I live in the right place for tree photography. This was almost my first shot using a new lens, and I’m chuffed to bits with how the lens captured the burst of light and intricate detail of a classic Yorkshire woodland landscape. Cloud inversion photographs are hard to get and on this particular morning, I missed the best chance of one.  Still, the soft tones and leftover traces of cloud, deep in the Calder Valley, make this a unique and atmospheric landscape photograph.  One of my best sellers.

Shot from near Old Town, this ethereal morning scene shows a cloud inversion in Calderdale, illuminated by golden sunshine creating silhouettes of the composition’s subjects.  I was lucky enough to be ready and waiting when three birds flew into shot.  Look carefully and you can see Emley Moor Mast on the furthest horizon.

I love dark and atmospheric landscape photography and this dramatic Pennine view is a personal favourite. A friend and I camped ‘on the tops’ in winter, and we watched this scene unfold during the hike up.  Snow in the foreground, Stoodley Pike and some windmills in the far distance.
